The sayings of Hakim Luqman

Assalam olaikum,
As Allah (swt) had granted Hakim Luqman with wisdom. Not surprisingly, his sayings are like pearls of wisdom and quite though-provoking. Here are some of them to ponder:
To keep silent is wisdom. I have regretted to talk but I have never regretted to have kept quiet.
There are 3 kinds of brother. First, those who take advantage of your kindness but never reward you. Second, those who lend you a helping hand only as mushy as would be profitable to him. Third, those who like to be with you without any greed.
He is a liar who says that evil with evil. If he was truthful then tell him to ignite two fires and see if one of them can put out the other. The righteous deeds can extinguish evil as water extinguishes fire.
Remember two matters, i.e. Allah (swt) and death. Forget two matters, i.e. the virtues that you have done so far in life and the evil done to you by others.
The envious people have 3 characteristics: They speak slanderously about people behind their backs, in front of people they flatter them and derive sadistic pleasure when they see others in peril.

 The advice of Hakim Luqman to his sons- 2

Assalam olaikum,
There is ample wisdom behind the advice of Hakim Luqman to his son to keep away from shirk.
Allah (swt) says in the Holy Quran: ‘Verily, Allah forgives not that rivals should be set up in worship with Him. He forgives save that (anything else) to whom He pleases and whoever sets rivals with Allah he hath indeed done a grave sin.’
This verse emphatically shows that shirk is a tremendous sin.
Shirk is considered to be the biggest sin in Islam because Allah (swt) says in the Holy Quran: ‘Turn unto Allah (only) not ascribing partners unto Him, for whoso ascribes partners unto Allah, it is as if he has fallen from the sky and the birds had snatched him or the wind has blown him to a distant place’. (TMQ- Al Hajj: 31)
Though man is considered to be the best of Almighty Allah’s creation yet man can fall down to the lowest levels if he commits the sin of shirk or associating partners with Almighty Allah..

The advice of Hakim Luqman to his sons- 3

Assalam o alaikum,
Here are some more Quranic verses which reveal the utter helplessness and predicament of the people, on the Day of Judgment, who do not believe in tawheed or oneness of Allah (swt) and who associated partners to Him.
Allah (swt) says in the Holy Quran: ‘When the people who had committed shirk in this world will see those whom they had had made associates with Allah, they will say, ‘Our Lord, here are those associates/deities whom we used to invoke besides You. But they will fling to them the saying, ‘Lo! Ye verily are liars’. At that time all of them will proffer submission before Allah and all that they used to forge in this world, will vanish from them’. (TMQ- 16:86-87)
Allah (swt) has warned those who commit shirk by saying: ‘’whoever commits shirk, i.e. involving anything with Allah, so Allah will forbid for him paradise and shall be his abode. And for such wrongdoers there shall be no one to help. (TMQ-5:72)
These Quranic verses show that those who commit the heinous sin of invoking others besides Allah (swt) are surely going to be doomed on the Doomsday!

 Prophecies in Al-Quran -1

Assalam olaikum,

In religious context the word prophecy refers to an inspired statement of a Prophet, which is considered to be a revelation of divine will. In other words, it is a forecast of the future that is made under divine inspiration.
The Quran has also prophesized about the future and each of its prophecy has proved to be genuine and true. It is not plausible that Prophet Mohammad (saw), who lived in the nomadic Arab society, 1400 years back, could him self predict about such fascinating scientific events that were going to occur. Therefore, the only believable source behind these prophecies and predictions is the Divine power of Allah (swt). Interestingly enough, all the Quranic prophecies have been fulfilled by those who were atheists or non-Muslims. Hence, the question of influencing the circumstances or any kind of manipulation does not arise.

Here are some prophesies in the Quran which are related to the promise of Allah (swt) to show the disbelievers that Al-Quran is His Word:

"Their skins will bear witness against them as to what they have been doing" (41:21)

What the Quran has revealed 14 centuries back was discovered by mankind in the 19th century. It was finally proved that the fingerprints provide a foolproof way of personal identification. In the present times, the science of fingerprint Identification is superior to the rest of the forensic sciences because no two fingerprints have ever been found to be similar in many billions of human and automated computer comparisons.

Prophecies in Al-Quran -2

Assalam olaikum,


"They will alter Allah's creation." (4:120)
The holy Quran has prophesized in 4:120 that under the patronage and influence of satan mankind will alter the creation of Allah (swt). This prophecy has also come true as genetic engineering, cloning and plastic surgery becoming rampant these days.

"And He has created horses and mules and asses that you may ride them, and as a source of beauty. And He will create what you do not yet know." (16:9)
This verse means that in the olden days the main means of transportation were animals such as mules, horses and asses. However, in the coming times man will invent modern and speedier means of transportation such as the trains, airoplanes etc by using the intellect provided to him by his Creator. Obviously, in the olden times nobody could have imagined the sophisticated means of transportation that we find today. This has been hinted at in: “And He will create what you do not yet know”.

Prophecies in Al-Quran -5

Assalam olaikum,

“Why do they not study The Quran carefully? If it were from other than God, they would have found in it numerous contradictions.” (The Quran, 4:82)
Though the Quran deals with a plethora of issues and reiterates many stories about the past nations yet, no one can find contradiction in the 6000+ verses of Al-Quran. Many people have made attempts but were in vain.
Some prophecies have taken place during the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad (saw) such as:
“Surely, He Who ordained The Quran for thee, will bring thee home again.” (The Quran, 28:85)
This verse was revealed when Prophet Muhammad’s situation was calamitous because of the hostility from the people of Mecca, which was his home. The chiefs/leaders of that period rejected his message and also did not accept him and followers. It was a tough situation as most of his followers had already migrated to Madinah, a nearby city. It was his turn to migrate to Madinah. Finally, he migrated as a refugee but only to return 8 years later (8 Hijri) in a triumphant way, thereby fulfilling yet another prophecy.
