Islam’s important role in eradicating social evils - 15
Assalam o alaikum,
Going back to our original point, i.e. the issue of racism in this world, let us discuss this topic in the light of the Quranic teachings.
Allah (swt) says in the Holy Quran:
“Men, We have created you from a single (pair) all male and female and have made you nations and tribes so that you would recognize each other. The most honorable amongst you in the Sight of Allah is the most pious amongst you.” (TMQ- 49:13)
In the above mentioned verse Allah (swt) has enlightened mankind about the reason why He has divided human beings in different nations and tribes. Definitely, the logic was not to create an imbalance between mankind. On the contrary, Allah (swt), who is All-Knowing and All-Wise, has divided mankind into different tribes and nations for the sake of easy identification. Therefore, despite the apparent differences in color, race, tribes, languages, traditions and nations there is an underlying unity amongst the entire human race as they are all descendants of Adam and Eve. Racism, on the other hand, is an evil idea crafted by evil people who are totally conceited and who display the negative traits of superciliousness.
Therefore, there is no mention of the baseless concept of race in Quran. The verse 49:13 also proves that belonging to any particular tribe or nation does not make a person redeemed in the Eyes of Allah but it is only through piousness that one can earn Allah (swt)’s Goodwill.
