The necessity of Tafseer of the Qur’an- 2
Assalam olaikum,
There are certain points that need to be discussed here regarding the thorough understanding of Al-Quran:
There are various ahadeeth of Prophet Mohammad (saw) which explain the verses of Al- Qur'an.
There certain reasons behind the revelation of specific verses of Al-Quran, i.e. many verses have some background.
There are complexities of Arabic grammar and the principles of rhetoric.
There are intricacies of the various qiraaat and of the information of the abrogated rulings.
So without having knowledge about the above mentioned points it is not possible to understand Quran thoroughly.
For instance, an Arabic linguist or grammarian will be able to understand the wisdom behind the phrasing of a verse which an average person cannot understand. Moreover, a person who has specialized in the 'Uloom al-Quran can easily grasp the intended meanings of a Quranic verse. Such a person can also derive rulings from it which a layman cannot.
