Assalam oalikum,
Abdul Rashid Ali Sufi (B.1964) is a Quran reciter from Somalia. He father, Ali
Abdul Rahman Sufi, is a preacher and reciter too. Ali Abdul Rahman Sufi has
taught many theologians. He was the founder of the famous mosque of
Mogadishu,
which he had named as Al Sheikh Ali Sufi Mosque. Besides this he had
built a number of schools and institutes for teaching and learning the Holy
Qur’an.
Abdul Rashid Ali Sufi had learned the Holy Quran at his father’s Mosque.
He had completely memorized the Quran at the tender age of 10 years. He had
learnt different styles of recitation and interpretations of the Holy Quran from his
father.
Besides this he owes a lot to his father for the various skills that he had
taught him. Abdul Rashid Ali Sufi had learnt different styles of Quran recitation,
the interpretations of the Qur’an and Fiqh from his father.
Abdul Rashid Ali Sufi went to Egypt in 1981 where he enrolled in the Qur’an
Recitations institute. He got a high certificate in the ten recitations.
Abdul Rashid was awarded two degrees in the ten recitations by the late Sheikh
Mohamed Ibn Ismail Al Hamdani. Following this he returned to Somalia, where
he took up teaching. He used to lead Salaat in his father’s mosque. In the
meantime he also visited many Arab countries for teaching the Qur’an’s sciences.
Later on he was nominated as an Imam and preacher in the Anas Ibn Malik’s
Mosque in Doha.
