The introduction of Hamza and Tashdeed in Al-Quran
Assalam oalaikum,
The Hamza is one of the three types of vowels in Arabic language, which was first introduced in the Quran by Imam Khaleel bin Ahmad, a well-known Imam in Arabic grammar.
As far as the Waqf sign in the Quran goes its rules were first taught by Prophet Mohammad (saw) to the Sahaaba (ra) just like he had taught them the other rules of tajweed. The knowledge of waqf was considered to be a very significant topic by the Sahaaba (ra).
However, the signs that represented the different forms of waqf were introduced into Al-Quran only a few centuries after Prophet Mohammad (saw). This also was done to help the readers, who did not understand Arabic, in making waqf at the right place .Imam Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Taifoor Sajawandi (ra) was the first person who developed these waqf signs in The Quran.
