The benefits of reading Surah Ikhlas (The Unity)
Assalam oalaikum,
Although Surah ikhlas is quite short yet its in-depth analysis can be quite voluminous.
There are numerous ahadith that prove its significance. Here are some of the:
Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “The Prophet (saw) said to his Companions: ‘Could any one of you not recite one third of the Qur’aan in one night?’ They found the idea too difficult, and said, ‘Who among us could do that, O Messenger of Allaah?’ He said, ‘Allaahu’l-ahad, al- samad [i.e., Soorat al-Ikhlaas] is one third of the Qur’aan.’” (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 4628)
Abu Hurayrah reported that the Prophet Mohammad (saw) heard a man reciting Qul huwa Allaahu ahad, and said, “It is his right.’ They asked, ‘O Messenger of Allaah, what is his right?’ He said, ‘Paradise is his right.’ (Reported by Imaam Ahmad, 7669)
The Prophet Mohammad (saw) said: “Whoever recites Qul huwa Allaahu ahad ten times Allah (swt) will build for him a house in Paradise.” (Saheeh al-Jaami’ al-Sagheer, 6472).
Here are some useful amals of Surah Ikhlas:
If a person is suffering from a Migraine headache, which is usually unilateral (affecting half portion of the head) then reciting Surah Ikhlas 11 times and blowing over the painful spot will Inshallah do away with pain.
If a person’s wife is bent up ruining his life due to her hot temper or due to some other reason and behaves rudely with him then such a man can do the following amal to make his wife come back to her senses and improving her attitude: Before retiring to bed, perform ablution and then sit down on the prayer mat (musallah) and recite Surah Ikhlas 41 times. Then go to sleep without talking to anyone. The man should keep thinking about his wife till he falls asleep. The stipulated time for this amal is of 9 days. If the husband notices that the wife’s attitude towards him has softened then also he should go ahead and complete the 9 day amal.
If a man or a woman is facing problems in getting married then that person should read Surah Ikhlas 41 times (with Durud shareef 11 times before and after Surah Ikhlas) at night after completing all the daily chores. Then one should pray to Allah (swt) especially for marriage. Even if one gets a good proposal before 9 days or gets engaged, it is advisable to complete the amal till 9 days.
