Mention of figs in Quran-3
Assalam oalaikum,
Amazingly, the fig which has the privilege of being mentioned in the Holy Quran 1400 years back has been recently touted as the nature's most nearly perfect fruit. The nutritional value of fig and its plethora of health benefits have made it assume great importance.
Figs are found to have higher mineral contents than any other fruit. The calcium content of figs is quite high. In terms of its calcium content it ranks second after orange.
Figs can also provide strength and energy to the convalescing patients.
Figs are recommended to the patients suffering from asthma, coughs and chills.
Figs are undoubtedly a special blessing from Allah (swt) for mankind. The way in which figs have been mentioned in the Qur'an indicates their importance for the mankind. Once again I would like to point out to the fact that the nutritional value of the fig has been only recently established with the advancement of science and technology. The Quran has proved the importance of figs when scientific research was non-existent. This is another sign that Al- Qur'an is unquestionably the Word of Allah, the All-knowing.
