Sheikh Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Abdullah al-Khulaifi was born in the city of al-Bukairiya in 1333H. He was an Imam and Khateeb (a person who gives khutbah) of Masjid-ul- Haraam. He belonged to a very religious and knowledgeable family. His father was a judge and a great scholar.
Sheikh Abdullah Khulaifi was around fifteen years old when he had memorized the Holy Qur'an. Initially he assisted his father in a mosque in al-Bukairiya and later on he shifted to the al-Namlah mosque. Gradually his demand grew as more and more people wished to offer Salaah in his Imamate.
Some of the closest aides to the late King Faisal bin Abdul Aziz have mentioned that the king had appointed Sheikh Khulaifi as his special Imam in Ta'if in 1360's (Hijri). Sheikh Khulaifi served as an Imam in the palace for a couple of years. In 1365 hijri King Faisal had him appointed as an Imam and Khateeb of Masjid-ul- Haraam. He served as an Imam until his death in 1414 hijri.
