Assalam olaikum,
Allah (swt) says in the Holy Quran, ‘Because of that We ordained for the Children of Israel that if anyone killed a person not in retaliation of murder, or (and) to spread mischief in the land-it would be as if he killed all mankind, and if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of a mankind. And indeed there came to them Our Messengers with clear evidences, proofs and signs even then after that many of them continued to exceed the limits (e.g. by doing oppression unjustly and exceeding beyond the limits set by Allah by committing the major sins) in the land. (TMQ-5:32)
This verse clearly shows that Islam is a religion of peace and it does not encourage unnecessary bloodshed.
The Holy Quran also says, ‘But if the enemy inclines towards peace, do thou (also) incline towards peace, and trust in Allah- for He is One that heareth and knoweth (everything). (TMQ- 8:61)
This verse shows that if the enemy of Islam is peaceful then Allah (swt) also encourages making peace with them.
There are many such verses which prove to us that Islam is a religion of peace.
