The false promises and betrayal by shaitan
Assalam oalaikum,
For all those who lack farsightedness and get enticed by shaitan during this short-lived life, an eternal life of punishment and embarrassment awaits them in the hell. Those who do not pay heed to Allah (swt)’s command and befriend shaitan will eventually be let down by shaitan.
The message of the shaitan for his followers on earth, on the Day of Judgment, will be as follows: "Indeed, Allah had promised you the promise of truth. And I promised you, but I betrayed you. But I had no authority over you except that I invited you, and you responded to me. So do not blame me; but blame yourselves. I cannot be called to your aid, nor can you be called to my aid. Indeed, I deny your association of me [with Allah] before. Indeed, for the wrongdoers is a painful punishment. (Quran: Ibrahim .22)
The disappointing message of shaitan for his followers shows how utterly helpless and hopeless he will be in Akhrah. Hence, what is the point for anyone amongst us to obey him during the fixed time for which we have been sent on earth by Allah (swt) [solely to worship him]? What can be the importance or usefulness of such a companion who leaves us half-way through the journey? After all, death is not the end of life but the beginning of an eternal life.
Therefore, just like a visionary leader formulates the policies which will be beneficial for the country in the long run similarly, the wise amongst us also do not let short-term gains (pertaining to this world) overshadow the long term gains (those pertaining to the Akhrah).
