Islam is a religion of peace-4
Assalam olaikum,
I have discussed in my previous post the Quranic verses (60:8-9) in which Allah (swt) has commanded the followers of Islam not to become allies of those who are their adversaries.
Allah (swt) also says in the same Surah: ‘It may well be that God will bring about (mutual) affection between you (O believers) and some of those whom you (now) face as enemies, for Allah is all-powerful and Allah is much forgiving, a dispenser of grace (60:7).
This is exactly what happened as Allah (swt) has told us. After the Muslim victory over Mecca the enemies started reverting to Islam in huge numbers. As soon as they entered the fold of Islam the bitter animosity that existed between them and the Muslims soon transformed into love and friendship. Miraculously, the same people who were earlier blood thirsty enemies of Muslims later on became their loyal supporters.
The command being given by Allah (swt) to the Muslims in verses 60:8 is to show equity and kindness only towards them who:
Do not inflict cruelty upon the Muslims just because of their faith.
Do not compel them to migrate from their home land.
Do not conspire with the enemies of Muslims by providing them with weapons or by giving them suggestions against the Muslims. (contd)
