Assalam olaikum,
Another historian has thrown some light on these crusades. He said that, ‘Many of the so-called crusaders were quite busy plundering on the way and they did not reach Palestine at all. Some took to massacring Jews; some even plundered their brother- Christians. Fed up of the misbehavior, the Christian peasants attacked the crusaders and sometimes even killed them’.
This shows us how the innocent Muslims were killed in a barbaric way and that the motives of the crusaders were plain evil because earlier the Muslims, Christians and the Jews were all living peacefully in Palestine.
In a twist of fate, Salah Ad- din Yusuf Ibn Ayyub, the founder of the Ayyubid dynasty, captured Jerusalem from the Christians. It is not surprising that he is considered to be the most popular Muslim hero and an expert military diplomat. He managed to get together the entire Muslim kingdoms under his banner. In a holy war he crushed the rebelling Crusaders in the battle of Hattin (1187)
Now the point that I would like to discuss here is not the overwhelming victory of this Islamic hero but the aftermaths of this victory. Only then can the truth be established. (contd)
