Assalam olaikum,
Allah (swt) says in the Quran: 'If We had sent down this Qur'an upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and breaking down from fear of Allah...'
(Surah Al-Hashr 59:21 )
This verse clearly shows the authority of Holy Quran. Since Al-Quran is the Word of God so there will definitely be some rules which need to be followed while reading it to show reverence towards this Divine book:
Before reading Quran it is essential to perform Wudu and face the Qiblah.
The place where Quran is read should be legally pure.
Quran should not be read fast or hurriedly. Allah (swt) says in the Quran says: ‘And recite the Qur'an in slow measured rhythmic tone' (Al Qur'an 73:4 ). According to Ibn Kthir, the tafseer of this verse is to 'recite the Qur'an slowly, thereby making the letters clear, for this is helpful in understanding and pondering over the meaning of the Qur'an.
One should try to weep while reading Quran. Imam An-Nawwawi rahimahullaah said that crying while reading the Qur’an is a trait of those who know Allah (swt) through His names and characteristics and the feelings of the righteous. It is highly commendable to cry while reading Quran due to fear of Allah (swt). Allah (swt) appreciates His followers by saying: And they fall down on their faces weeping and it adds to their humility. [17:109]
