Al-Tibb-al-Nabawi (The Prophetic medicine) – 7
Bismillahir Rahman nir Raheem
Assalamoalaikum,
• Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "If a fly falls in the
vessel of any of you, let him dip all of it (into the vessel) and then
throw it away, for in one of its wings there is a disease and in the
other there is healing (antidote for it) that is, the treatment for
that disease."(Sahih Bukhari Volume 7, Book 71, Number 673)
In medical science this is known fact that a fly carries some
pathogens on certain parts of its body. As the above mentioned hadith
shows this fact was mentioned by Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) 1,400 years
back when there was almost no formal medical knowledge.
Microbiologists have now found that there are longitudinal cells that
live as parasites within the stomach of the fly. These yeast cells (as
part of their own reproductive cycle) stick out from the respiratory
tubules of the fly. When the fly is soaked completely in a liquid, the
ensuing change in the osmotic pressure makes the cells to burst. The
contents of the cells act as an antidote for the pathogens that the
fly carries on its body. Therefore this latest research in
microbiology establishes the fact that was known from Prophetic
knowledge snce 1,400 years.
