Assalam oalaikum,
Far from looking down on women as a curse or evil omen and subjecting them to cruelty, there are quite a few ahadith that depict women as a source of entering Jannah for males.
Prophet Mohammad (saw) says, ‘Verily, heaven lies under the feet of our mothers.’ (Ahmad, Nasai)
Prophet Mohammad (saw), ‘Anyone who brings up two daughters properly and treats them kindly and gently shall enter Paradise’.
In another hadith Prophet Mohammad (saw) says, ‘When a man marries he has fulfilled half of the deen’. So let him fear Allah regarding the remaining half’.
There are several verses in the Holy Quran as well which show that Allah (swt) has given equal importance to both His creations in terms of spirituality and socio-economic rights.
“Surely the men who submit and the women who submit, and the believing men and the believing women, and the obedient men and the obedient women, and the truthful men and the truthful women, and the humble men and the humble women, and the almsgiving men and the almsgiving women, and the fasting men and th fasting women, and the men who guard their chastity and the women who guard their chastity, and the men who praise God and the women who praise God, Allah has prepared for all of them forgiveness and a mighty reward. (TMQ-33:36)
Nowhere in the Quran do we find any sort of discrimination between the males and the female on grounds of their gender. With its teachings based on equality and peace, Islam has put to an end the atrocities on women which were rampant during the Jahiliya Period.
