Assalam oalaikum,
Here are some more ahadith which show the importance of honey as a food:
"For there is no house in which honey is kept for which the angels will not ask for mercy."-Hadith
Prophet Mohammad (saw) himself used to drink a glass of honey and water each morning on an empty stomach. For there is no house in which honey is kept for which the angels will not ask for mercy."- Hadith
Prophet Mohammad (saw) said, "There is a [Saheeh al-Bukharee (5356)].
It is narrated by Abi Sai'd AI-Khidri in the traditions that a man came to the Prophet Mohammad (saw) and reported that his brother was complaining of constipation. The Prophet (saw) advised: "Make him drink honey." The man came back the next day and said: "I made him drink honey and it did not help! The Prophet (saw) gave the same advice for two or three times, and the man kept coming back with the same answer. After the third or fourth time, The Prophet (saw) then said: "Allah (swt) spoke the truth, and your brother's belly lies." This tradition was reported in Sahih Muslim also in which the man said: "My brother's belly is squeamish." which meant that he is feeling queasy and his digestive system is upset
The logic behind Prophet Mohammad (saw)’s prescribing a second and then a third application of the remedy is that the condition of the patient was acute and he required further treatment. When the Prophet Mohammad (saw) told that man: "God Spoke the truth, and your brother's belly lies", he reiterated his claim that honey was the right remedy for his brother's condition, but his belly kept on denying this fact until the medicine finally took effect.
