The advice of Hakim Luqman to his sons- 6
Assalam oalaikum,
‘And if they both strive with you to make you join in worship with me others that of which you have no knowledge, then obey them not, but behave with them in the world kindly’. (TMQ- 31:15)
In this verse Allah (swt) says that the only matter in which a person should not obey even his parents is Deen. If the parents force their children to commit the unpardonable sin of shirk, i.e. associate partners with Allah (swt), they should not be obeyed because subservience to Allah (swt) is above everything else. Allah (swt), being Merciful, has advised such children to show respect towards their parents in this world, despite the differences with them over the matter of faith.
