The obligation of respecting Al-Qur’an-6
Assalam olaikum,
Without performing wudu it is not permitted to even touch Quran. Neither should one carry the bag or box in which Quran is placed without wudu.
Saliva should not be used on the fingers to flip the pages of the Qur'an.
Imam Muhammad ibn Ahmad Qurtubi says in al-Jami' li ahkam al-Qur'an that one should brush one's teeth in order to get rid of food particles from between them and to make one’s mouth fresh before reciting because it is the way through which Al-Qur'an passes by.
~One should sit straight and not lean back while reciting Quran
~It is commendable to dress up well for reciting because the reciter gets engaged in an intimate conversation with his Creator;
~One should face the direction of prayer (qiblah) while reciting.
~The reader should rinse the mouth with water if one coughs up phlegm or mucus
~ Before beginning the recitation the reader should seek refuge of Allah (swt) from the Devil by saying Bismillah.
~ One should try to understand what is being said to one
~It is the duty of every reciter to find out the meanings of the unusual lexical usages in Qur'an.
~ Each letter will be counted as ten good deeds if they are given their due importance by being read out clearly.
