Assalam olaikum,
Allah (swt) says in the Quran- ‘Allah will exalt those who believe amongst you and those who have knowledge to high ranks. (TMQ -58:11)
Hence Quran encourages pursuit of scientific knowledge. It encourages mankind to reflect upon the signs of His creation such as the stars and the heavens.
Science cannot be made to stand as a competitor of Quran because Quran completely eclipses science. Till date, science has been only able to prove only the natural elements. It is still helpless when it comes to prove the angels, souls and other supernatural elements. It has still to go a long way in this respect.
However, if science cannot prove the existence of an entity then it does not mean that those things (such as the angels, phenomenon of life after death etc) do not exist!
The success parameters of science depend on the extent to which it has understood the Quran because in Quran, Allah (swt) has enlightened us about all His creations. Quran has dealt with various subjects such as oceanography, embryology etc. The scientists have been able to understand many of them due to growth in technology. They may take some more time to understand the rest of the verses as science surges ahead.
Narrated Abu Hurairah that the Prophet (saw) said, ‘There is no disease that Allah has created, except that He has created its remedy’. In this case, the success parameter of medical science depends on its finding a suitable cure for each and every disease. Inshallah, one day they Allah (swt) may grant them success.
The Holy Quran says: He (Allah) knows whatever there is on the earth and in the sea. Not a leaf doth fall but without his knowledge’. (TMQ- 6: 59)
In a nutshell, Quran does not depend on science to prove its authenticity. Rather scientists depend on the mercy of Allah (swt) in their quest of knowledge and advancement.
