Pomegranates can reduce biliousness when taken along with honey.
The decoction of the root bark of this fruit is a very effective remedy for the removal of worms, including tapeworms. This decoction has reportedly served as an effective cure for tuberculosis.
According to Unani medicine, pomegranate can cure chronic constipation and indigestion. It can soothe the nerves and also stimulate the liver. The juice can refresh the brain
Pomegranates prevent LDL cholesterol from oxidizing into the bloodstream which helps in keeping atherosclerosis under control.
This fruit is effective in preventing blood platelets from forming clots.
Studies show that pomegranate extract can help to reduce inflammation in joints.
If eaten regularly, pomegranates can enhance the amount of oxygen that flows to the heart, even in patients who suffer from coronary heart disease.
In his book, ‘The Prophetic Medicine’ Ibn al-Qayyim has mentioned two kinds of pomegranates, i.e. the sweet and sour. Amongst some of the pomegranate s that were mentioned by him include the following:
It is beneficial for the stomach, throat, chest and lungs.
It can cure cough
It provides great nourishment for the body.
On the other hand the sour variety of pomegranate s is beneficial for an inflamed stomach and can stop vomiting.
Thus we find that the umpteen benefits of this fruit have made it a miracle fruit and it is a blessing from Allah (swt) for mankind. Moreover, its mention in Al-Quran as a fruit from Jannah has made pomegranate all the more special for us.
