Quran is the Word of Allah (swt)-9

Assalam olaikum,
Miraculously enough it is Al-Quran which gave us a clear hint that the moon does not emit its own light but reflected light, instead. Careful analysis of the words which have been used by the Quran to describe the Sun and the Moon help us to understand this fact.
For example, the Sun, which is referred to as shams in the Holy Quran, has also been described as siraj (torch), wahhaj glowing lamp and as diya (shining wonder). On the other hand Moon which is referred as Qamar in the Holy Quran has also been described as muneer (a body which emits reflected light).
Though the Sun and the Moon both give us light but the Moon has never been referred to as siraj, diya or wahhaj. This shows us emphatically that the Quran differentiates between the light coming to us from these two sources, (the Sun and the Moon) and it tells us the exact nature of these two lights, i.e. the Sun emitting its own light and the Moon emitting reflected light.
‘Blessed is He Who made constellation in the skies, and placed therein a Lamp and a Moon that gives light’ (TMQ-25:61)
A careful scrutiny of these verses can make us proud about the Divine origin and the accuracy and precision of Al-Quran.
(Allah knows best)

remember me in your prayer
