Assalam olaikum,
We oft get messages from our fellow-workers, friends etc on our mobile phones, e-mail box etc which we try to read as soon as possible. If there is some delay in getting a chance to read the message, we tend to become impatient and curious as to what the contents of the message may be. Al-Quran is a Heavenly Book which has a message for us from Allah (swt), our creator. Therefore, Quran is the most important message for us and it is from Allah (swt), who is more important for us then anyone else. So we should be impatient and curious to know this message too. After all, this message is a source of guidance for the mankind and it shows us the right path, which if followed, may lead us to heaven.
Besides understanding the Quran, reading it is also very rewarding. After all, it is the Word of Allah (swt)
Here are some authentic ahadith which throw light on the rewards of reciting Quran:
"Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah, he will get a reward. And that reward will be multiplied by ten. I am not saying that "Alif, Laam, Meem" is a letter, rather I am saying that "Alif" is a letter, "laam" is a letter, and "meem" is a letter."(Al-Albaanee authenticated it in Saheeh Sunan At-Tirmithee (3/164)
Prophet Mohammad (saw) said:
"Read the Qur'an, for verily it will come on the Day of Standing as an intercessor for its companions.” Saheeh Muslim #1871 (3/330 of Sharh An-Nawawee)
