Assalam oalaikum
Allah (swt) says in the Holy Quran: Do not the unbelievers see that the heavens and earth were joined together (as one unit of creation) before We clove them asunder? (TMQ 21:30)
This verse clearly shows that according to the Creator of this entire universe, Allah (swt) the earth and heavens were joined together. Allah (swt) separated them at the time of creation of this universe as we know it today. It goes without saying that it is only the manufacturer of any product who can have the complete knowledge about the product. Likewise only Allah (swt) could have disclosed this fact about his creation1400 years back.
Recent developments in the science of astronomy have helped man to understand this fact, which would not have been clear to people living 1400 years back. Today, astrophysicists have propounded the popular Big Bang theory according to which the entire universe was one huge mass (primary nebula). Then a massive explosion took place which helped in the formation of our earth and the moon, sun, planets and galaxies in the heaven.
Such a unique formation of the universe could not have happened just by chance. It has happened only by the command of Allah (swt) and this universe is His creation.
The Quran throws light on the formation of this universe because it is the Word of Allah (swt) and not some fabricated piece of literature as some would like to believe.
