The advice of Hakim Luqman to his sons-1
Assalam olaikum,
Luqman (pbuh) advises his son in Surah Luqman, verse 13: ‘O my son! Join not in worship others with Allah. Verily joining others in worship with Allah is the greatest injustice indeed’.
In the above mentioned verse Hakim Luqman has advised his son not to indulge in shirk (associating partners with the Almighty Allah). The first pillar of Islam is the kalma-e-shahada which if translated means that there is none worthy of worship besides Allah and Mohammad is his Prophet. We, as practicing Muslims believe in Tawheed or oneness of Allah, which is the opposite of shirk.
There are several Quranic verses which strictly prohibit shirk.
If there were in the heavens and the earth other Gods besides Allah there would be confusions in both (heaven and earth) but glory be to Allah the Lord of the throne, high is he above what they attribute to Him (TMQ-21:22)
This Quranic verse explains the fact that more than one God would have lead to utter chaos. The equilibrium and the fine balance present throughout the cosmos would not have been possible if there was more than one God. The wise can easily understand that the entire universe is being governed by one Creator and not by many gods and goddesses.
